ASKAP is designed to be a high speed survey instrument with high dynamic range. This requires an extremely wide field-of-view interferometer with Phased Array Feeds (PAFs). The PAF has a total of 188 elements, 94 in each of two polarizations.
The Calar Alto Legacy Integral Field Area Survey (CALIFA) is observing a statistically well-defined sample of ~600 galaxies in the local universe using 250 observing nights with the PMAS/PPAK integral field spectrophotometer, mounted on the Calar Alto 3.5 m telescope.
MaNGA | SDSS
Dienstag, 28. Juni 2016 19:29
Unlike previous SDSS surveys which measured spectra only at the centers of target galaxies, MaNGA bundles sets of optical fibers into tightly-packed arrays, enabling spectral measurements across the face of each of ~10,000 nearby galaxies.
he APO Galaxy Evolution Experiment North and South (also known as APOGEE-2) will explore the formation history of the Milky Way using the “archeological” record provided by hundreds of thousands of its individual stars.
Asteroid Day is a global awareness campaign where people from around the world come together to learn about asteroids, the impact hazard they may pose, and what we can do to protect our planet, families, communities, and future generations from future asteroid impacts.
